Live Music Near Merrimack NH at The Spot
Merrimack is quiet by design. When you want a real live music night out, The Spot is a 10 minute drive south on US-3 in downtown Nashua. Bands, open mics, DJs every week. No cover. Alcohol-free. All ages.
The Spot is owned by Michael McDowell, who has been sober for over 18 years and has been spinning records for over 25 years. General Manager Marissa Faltings is a professional violinist and trained luthier. Together they created The Spot as a community-centered, alcohol-free space at 217 Main Street, Nashua, NH.
Live Music in Merrimack: The Honest Take
Merrimack NH is a great place to live and a quiet place to find live music. The town is mostly residential, spread out along the Merrimack River between Nashua and Manchester, and the venues you might expect in a busier downtown simply aren't here. The biggest landmarks are the Anheuser-Busch Brewery on Daniel Webster Highway, Wasserman Park up by Naticook Lake, and the Merrimack Premium Outlets just off Exit 10 on the FE Everett Turnpike. None of those are live music venues.
There are a handful of restaurants in Merrimack that occasionally host a solo acoustic act on a Friday, and the town does a great job with seasonal events at Wasserman Park and the Town Common. But if you want a real weekly schedule, a real stage, a real PA system, and a room built around live performance, you have to leave town. Most Merrimack residents already know this. They head south to Nashua or north to Manchester.
South is closer. South is also where The Spot is.
The Spot -- Your 10-Minute Drive South
The Spot is a kava bar and live music venue at 217 Main Street in downtown Nashua, NH. From most of Merrimack, you are 10 to 15 minutes away. Get on the FE Everett Turnpike, take Exit 8 onto Main Street, and you are there. From the southern end of Merrimack near the outlets, it is even shorter. We are closer to most Merrimack neighborhoods than half of the venues in Manchester, and you do not have to deal with downtown Manchester traffic, parking garages, or cover charges.
What we offer that you cannot find in Merrimack is volume of programming. We host live music every Friday and Saturday night. Thursdays are open mic. Wednesdays are trivia or special events. The room is designed for live performance, not crammed in as an afterthought. The stage has a real PA, real lighting, and the sound is dialed in for the size of the space.
We are also fully alcohol-free, which surprises some people in a good way. The crowd is mixed: people who do not drink, people who are taking a break from drinking, people who just want to hear music without spending eighty dollars on a tab. Coming from Merrimack, you also do not have to think about a designated driver or a rideshare home.

Why Merrimack Residents Pick The Spot
We hear the same reasons over and over from Merrimack regulars. First, the drive is shorter than people expect. The Everett Turnpike is fast at night, and 10 minutes door-to-door is realistic from anywhere north of Greeley Park in Merrimack. Second, parking is straightforward. We are on Main Street in Nashua and there are city lots within a block, which is a different experience from circling for a spot in Manchester.
Third, the alcohol-free thing matters. A lot of our Merrimack regulars are people who used to drive to Manchester or Boston for nights out and then stopped because the drive home felt risky. At The Spot, that calculation goes away. You can stay until close, drive home clear-headed, and still have had a real Saturday night.
Fourth, the music is good. We do not book filler. Our calendar is curated by people who actually listen, and we pay our acts fairly, which means we attract better performers. You can read more about the kava bar side of what we do and about why we built this as a non-alcoholic spot if you want the full backstory.
For Merrimack-Based Musicians: Book Your Gig
If you are a musician based in Merrimack and you have been struggling to find a paid gig close to home, The Spot is one of the closest real venues to you. Solo acoustic players, full bands, jazz duos, folk acts, singer-songwriters, DJs -- we book a wide range and we pay fairly. You can submit a booking request here with your bio, demo links, and the dates you are looking at, and we will get back to you.
For unsigned acts and newer performers, Thursday open mic is the right way in. It is a friendly room, the sign-up list moves quickly, and we have actually booked paid Friday and Saturday slots off of strong open mic sets. The mic, the cables, and the PA are all set up before you walk in.
