What to Expect When You Perform at The Spot

You've submitted your booking request, heard back from us, and locked in a date. Now what? Here's a rundown of everything you can expect when you show up to play at The Spot in downtown Nashua, NH — from load-in to your last note.

Before the Show: Load-In & Setup

We'll coordinate a load-in time with you ahead of your show — typically 1-2 hours before doors. Our entrance is right off Main Street, so loading gear is straightforward. Once you're inside, our team will help you get set up in the performance area and do a quick sound check.

If you have specific needs (extra monitors, DI boxes, mic configurations), just mention them when you book. We'll have everything ready before you arrive. Our goal is to make setup painless so you can focus on your performance.

The Performance Area

The Spot's performance area is an intimate corner of the venue with a dedicated space for performers. It comfortably fits solo acts, duos, and full bands up to 5-6 members. The setup includes:

Sound: Full PA system with mains, monitors, and a mixing board. Wired and wireless microphones available. Plenty of channels for full-band setups.
Lighting: Basic stage lighting with adjustable color and intensity. Enough to set the mood without blinding you or your audience.
Space: Room for drum kits, amps, keyboards, and pedal boards. We've hosted everything from acoustic soloists to six-piece rock bands.

The Audience

This is where The Spot really stands out. Our audience is there specifically for the music. We're an alcohol-free venue, which means no one is three drinks deep and talking over your set. The crowd is engaged, attentive, and appreciative — it's closer to a listening room than a bar gig.

We seat around 40-50 guests, and because all shows are free entry, the room fills up. Our regulars are a mix of local music fans, kava enthusiasts, families, and people looking for something to do in Nashua that doesn't revolve around alcohol. It's a supportive crowd that genuinely wants to hear you play.

During Your Set

Set lengths are typically 1.5-2.5 hours, depending on the night and format. For multi-act bills, we'll work out the timing with you in advance. You have full creative freedom — play originals, covers, or a mix. Introduce your songs, tell stories, interact with the crowd. The intimate setting rewards performers who engage.

Need a drink while you play? Performers get complimentary kava or coffee throughout the night. We'll keep your shell full.

Selling Merch

Bring everything you've got — CDs, vinyl, t-shirts, stickers, pins, whatever. We set aside a table near the performance area for your merch. You keep 100% of your merch sales. Many of our performers report good merch nights because the audience is sober, engaged, and more likely to browse your table after the show.

Promotion & Social Media

Once your show is confirmed, we promote it. Your name, photo, genre, and show details go out across our channels:

Instagram (@thespotnashua) — post + stories leading up to the show
Facebook — event listing shared to our page and local groups
Email Newsletter — sent to our subscriber list of local fans
In-Venue Signage — posters and digital displays in the weeks before your show

We'll tag you in everything. If you share and repost, we'll engage with your posts too. The more we cross-promote, the more people show up.

After the Show

Load-out is easy — same door you came in. Take your time breaking down. Chat with the audience, sell some merch, enjoy a kava. If the night went well (and it usually does), we'll talk about booking you again before you leave.

Many of our performers become regulars — monthly or bi-monthly bookings that build a following at the venue. We love long-term relationships with artists who click with our audience.

Why Performers Keep Coming Back

The Spot isn't the biggest venue in New Hampshire. It's not the loudest, and it's definitely not the rowdiest. But performers keep coming back because the audience actually listens, the staff treats them like humans, and the vibe is unlike any other gig in the area. If you're tired of playing to a room that's staring at a TV, this is the antidote.
